The God of Miracles?

When you read the bible its so crammed full of 'Gods wonders', the miraculous, God's spirit moving in a real and powerful way. PLUS it's written in a way that seems like this should be so obvious to everyone.

If anyone claims that kind of thing now, were all a little skeptical or were just a bit freaked out.

I wonder does God still work in miraculous ways that are as tangible as they seem in the bible?

  1. With regards to miracles... are we referring to the water into wine, walking on water, parting the ocean type miracles? Today, in society, we have access to media and to information in an instance. If something amazing happens to you, you can have it written on your blog (no offence) in a no time and people can scrutize it straight away. In biblical times weren't a lot of these miracles passed down from word of mouth from town to town until they were written down a while later. For instance the miracles and wonders of God that occurred in the Genesis... weren't they written down by Moses quite a few years later? Maybe for something to make a lasting impact as a story it needed to be quite miraculous so that people would talk about it. So for God to make sure that people who weren't around at a particular time were to to hear about and remember what happened it needed to be 'miraculous'.
If you follow this train of thought, then perhaps for God to reveal his wonders it doesn't need to be as extravagent as parting water. Perhaps if he does something small like preventing a house from getting burned up by a fire that has surrounded the area around the house. Or maybe healing a little girl from cancer when all hope is lost the news, the internet, the blog sites and are going to tell everyone anyway.
God still works in miraculous ways today but he doesn't need to make them so obvious or tangible.
